Sixty-six days seems like an eternity for the Montana State women’s tennis team.
Sixty-six days seems like an eternity for the Montana State women's tennis team. The Bobcats opened its season with a 6-1 win at Chicago State on Jan. 17 and have been on the road ever since.
That all changes on Friday morning when MSU hosts Idaho in its home opener at 10 a.m. in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The match is free and open to the public.
"Traveling on the road each weekend has been challenging," said MSU first-year head coach Suzie Woodburn. "But we have been growing and learning each time we hit the court.
"To finally be playing at home means so much to us," she added. "We are so thrilled to compete in front of our Bobcat family."
MSU enters Friday's contest 3-10 overall and searching for its first Big Sky Conference victory. Idaho is 3-9 overall and 1-2 in league action- a 5-2 decision over Eastern Washington. The Vandals are coming off a 5-2 win over former Big Sky foe North Dakota.
Despite being winless in March, the Bobcats have dropped two hard-fought 4-3 decisions to Sacramento State and Utah State and had two other matches that featured numerous three-set matches.
"Our fans will have an opportunity to see our fight, our energy and our passion," Woodburn said. "We are truly thrilled and ready for a battle."
