BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State women's golf team returns to Utah to take part in the Kelsey Chugg Invitational which starts on Monday in Eden at Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course. The tournament is the second for MSU this fall following last weekend's appearance at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic.
"We're back at it again and we're more than ready," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We are anxious to get back on the course and make a few more putts this week."
The Bobcats finished 13th out of 17 a week ago at the Utah Valley-hosted meet held in Springville. MSU's lineup primarily consists of the same faces, with the inclusion of Cora Rosanova who will be making her collegiate debut for the Bobcats. She is joined by Kameryn Basye, Bailey Anderson, Jordan Briggs and Hannah Rosanova.
Basye led the Bobcat golfers at the Hobble Creek Classic with her 76.67 scoring average over the course of three rounds. Anderson recorded MSU's best 18-hole round score of the tournament with 2-over-73 in the third round, while Briggs and Hannah Rosanova each carded two rounds in the 70s.
"We need to stay better focused on each shot and not let our emotions get the best of us," Brittany Basye said. "Each player needs to believe in their games by trusting their landing spots and stroking their putts well."
The Kelsey Chugg Invitational, which is hosted by Weber State, features nine teams in the tournament field. Monday's play starts at 9 a.m. and features 36 holes, while the final round of action begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Results for the tournament will be available on Golfstat.com with links found on the team's schedule page on msubobcats.com.
"This is a new course for us," Brittany Basye said. "Kameryn has played it a few times and Bailey played it once this summer. I am excited to see how this group of five competes in the blue and gold!"
