The Montana State women’s golf team opens its slate of fall tournament play on Monday when the Bobcats take part in the Hobble Creek Fall Classic
The Montana State women's golf team opens its slate of fall tournament play on Monday when the Bobcats take part in the Hobble Creek Fall Classic. The 54-hole event, hosted by Utah Valley, takes place at Hobble Creek Golf Course in Springville, Utah.
The tournament will feature a total of 17 teams along with 18 individuals participating. MSU will be joined in the event by host Utah Valley and fellow Big Sky members Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Southern Utah and Weber State.
"We're super excited about fall competition and getting the players back in Bobcat uniforms to compete," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We have had a couple of good weeks of practice and playing, now it's go time."
"Hobble Creek is a great course to begin our first competition as the field will be very competitive."
Representing Montana State in the meet will be Bailey Anderson, Kameryn Basye, Jordan Briggs, Annika Danenhauer and Hannah Rosanova.
Basye paced the Bobcat squad a season ago as she earned All-Big Sky Third Team honors. The Bozeman native led the team with a 76.75 scoring average which ranked as the eight best in a single season in program history. Danenhauer and Rosanova serve as returners in the lineup with each playing in all five of MSU's tournaments in the spring of 2021.
Anderson and Briggs redshirted their true freshmen seasons and will be playing in their first tournaments as Bobcats. Joey Lovell with join coach Brittany Basye on the course in his opener as an assistant on the coaching staff.
"We have a couple new faces in the lineup with Bailey and Jordan making their collegiate debuts," Brittany Basye said. "Kameryn, Annika and Hannah will bring some experience to our lineup to round out the five spots for us.
"I am looking forward to seeing how the five respond to having two active coaches on the course with them. We will have more coverage on the course with two coaches and be able to be with the players on almost every hole."
Monday features two 18-hole rounds with play starting at 7:45 a.m. The final day of action is expected to start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Results for the tournament will be available on Golfstat.com with links found on the team's schedule page on msubobcats.com.
