All-Big Sky Performers Highlight Track & Field’s Team Award Winners

Headlining a group of award winners are an array of gold medal recipients and all-conference athletes.
The Montana State track and field/cross country program selected its annual award winners following the 2020-21 season. Headlining the group of award winners are an array of gold medal recipients and all-conference athletes.
Sharing the Bobcats' Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year award honors were Lucy Corbett, Cantor Coverdell, Noah Martin, Carla Nicosia and Carley VonHeeder. Corbett (women's high jump), Coverdell (men's javelin), Martin (men's high jump) and VonHeeder (women's javelin) all earned gold medals at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in May. Nicosia, who set the program's women's triple jump record, claimed silver in the event at the Big Sky meet.
All five Field athletes advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Round with Corbett advancing to the NCAA Championships where she earned Second Team All-America accolades.
The Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year honors went to Duncan Hamilton, Camila Noe and Drake Schneider.
Hamilton earned All-America recognition during both the indoor and outdoor track seasons, won a gold and silver medal at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, as well as captured a silver medal at the Big Sky's Winter Cross Country Championships. Hamilton, who finished fifth in the men's steeplechase to become a First Team All-American in the event at the NCAA outdoor meet, finished the year with a finals appearance in the steeplechase at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Schneider, who also appeared at the U.S Olympic Trials, completed a three-peat championship effort in the men's 400 hurdles at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships. Schneider, who also helped carry MSU's 4x400 relay to a silver medal performance, has owned MSU's 400 hurdles record for the men's team since 2019.
Noe earned a silver medal in the 5,000 at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in May. She completed two All-Big Sky showings during the academic year as she also finished fourth at the Big Sky Winter Cross Country Championships.
Alex Hellenberg joined Hamilton, Schneider and Corbett as award honorees as the four Bobcats were named MSU's Most Improved Athletes for the 2021-22 season. Hellenberg had career-record performances at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships. She finished fourth overall in the triple jump and sixth in the pole vault behind lifetime best efforts. Her triple jump mark of 40-04.25 (12.30m) is second best in program history and her pole vault clearance of 12-05.25 (3.79m) was the eighth best.
MSU's Outstanding Freshmen award winners were Evelyn Adams, Will Anderson, Levi Taylor and Macy White.
Adams ended her season with a fourth-place finish at the Big Sky Championships in the long jump as well as in the same spot on MSU's 4x100 relay squad. Her personal-best jump of 19-00.50 is the fifth best in program history. Anderson took sixth in the 400 and was a member of MSU's silver medal 4x400 relay. He ran a lifetime best 48.33 seconds in the final finals at the Big Sky meet. Taylor, who made a West Preliminary appearance and was a scorer for the Bobcats' cross country championship squad, took fourth in the steeplechase at the Big Sky outdoor meet. He completed MSU's eighth fastest 1,500 (3:45.64) and ninth fastest steeplechase (8:55.66) during the outdoor season. White ender her outdoor slate fourth in the 100 finals as well as on MSU's 4x100 relay. She recorded the Bobcats' third fastest ever 100 (11.95) and 10th fastest 200 (24.84).
A variety of Bobcat track and field student-athletes also earned letters for their performances during the 2021-22 calendar year, with a majority doing so during the outdoor season.
