
Bobcat Men's Tennis Team Hosts Idaho in Key Big Sky Contest Sunday

Montana State, Vandals clash in important Big Sky North showdown
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State begins a crucial stretch of its men's tennis season on Sunday, when Idaho visits the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center for a crucial Big Sky Conference clash.
Idaho enters weekend play with a 1-0 league record, 5-4 overall, having beaten Eastern Washington on April 2. The Vandals play at Montana on Friday, and finish with an April 17 contest against Portland State. Along with MSU, those five schools comprise the Big Sky North in 2021. The 0-1 Bobcats (3-7 overall) haven't competed since March 30, and finish with five matches, including three league tilts, in the next two weeks.
In addition to the Eastern Washington win, the Vandals topped Big Sky South rival Sacramento State, 4-3 on March 21. Francisco Bascon leads the way with a 6-3 mark at the top singles spot, while Bruno Casino is 6-2 at No. 3 singles. No other ladder spot features a singles player with more than two wins at that position. Idaho has also posted impressive doubles results, with a 14-12 overall mark.
Second-year Bobcat coach Trey Morris has continued to shape his young squad as it has tackled a difficult schedule. The team has played eight straight road matches, all but one from the West Coast, Mountain West or Pac 12 conferences. Redshirt freshman Brad Buckland stands 6-4 on the season to lead the Bobcats, playing at the No. 4 or 5 ladder spots. The Cats continue to search for their first win at the top ladder spot, freshman Daan Van Dijk has provided a spart with a 3-6 record at No. 3.
After Sunday's match, Montana State hosts Eastern Washington on Friday, April 16, and Weber State in a non-league, Senior Day match on April 17.
