Bobcats Close Road Trip with Loss at Utah

Utes sweep all completed matches on Tuesday evening
Montana State freshman Brad Buckland won by retirement but Utah swept through the other matches in a 6-1 win over the Bobcats in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
While the team score was lopsided, most of the contest's singles matches were contested. Buckland dropped the first set 6-3 to Francis Bastias, but won the second set 6-2 and was on serve at 1-2 at No. 4 singles when Bastias retired. Bobcat freshman Daan Van Dijk dropped a 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 10-4 decision to Slava Shainyan at No. 3 singles, and Jacob Huppin fell 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) to Luis Flores at No. 6.
At No. 1 singles Utah's Franco Capalbo beat Joaquin Espinoza 6-1, 6-1. Utah's Geronimo Busleiman topped Nejc Sitar 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Mathias Gavelin of Utah beat Jakob Mosvold 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Utah won at the first and third ladder spot in doubles play to clinch the doubles point.
Tuesday's match capped a string of seven road matches in 19 days. MSU stands 3-6 overall, 0-1 in the league, as it preps for Big Sky home matches against Idaho on April 11 and Eastern Washington April 16.
