MSU visits Seattle, Portland State and Portland in first action in over a month
Montana State returns to the courts after more than a month away from competition when the Bobcats visit Seattle and Portland this weekend for three men's tennis showdowns.
The Cats play at Seattle on Friday at 7:30 pm MT before visiting Portland State on Saturday at 3:30 pm and Portland on Sunday at 12 noon. The PSU match is a Big Sky Conference contest. MSU enters weekend play 2-0 on the season after a season-opening weekend sweep of Idaho State in non-conference matches February 6-7.
While veterans anchor the top of the Bobcat lineup – sophomore Nejc Sitar held down the No. 1 position on the opening weekend while junior Joaquin Espinoza played No. 2 – a pair of newcomers have impacted the team's lineup. Freshmen Daan Van Dijk and Brad Buckland both stand 2-0 entering the team's Northwest swing.
Seattle is 2-6 on the season, with a 5-2 win over Lewis-Clark State last time out. Portland State is 4-5 overall, 1-0 in Big Sky play after a win over Eastern Washington. Portland is 4-1, including wins over Big Sky foes Eastern Washington and Portland State and a victory over Cal Poly last time out.
