Montana won the doubles point and took four singles matches in three sets to earn a Big Sky women’s tennis victory over Montana State at Missoula’s PEAK Racquet Club on Sunday.
MISSOULA, Mont. - Montana won the doubles point and took four singles matches in three sets to earn a Big Sky women's tennis victory over Montana State at Missoula's PEAK Racquet Club on Sunday.
Enni Zander took a 7-5, 6-2 win over Alex Walker at No. 6 singles for MSU's only decision of the day. Four of the other five singles contests lasted three sets.
Bobcat coach Jon Reeves said he is proud of the win by Zander, a senior. "I want to give a big congratulations to Enni Zander who finishes her career in Big Sky Conference countable matches vs Montana 4-0. Enni has always been a competitor and she truly understands the relevance of the Cat-Griz rivalry. She loves it.
"Mirte played the best match I have seen her play," Reeves added. "She fought off three match points and earned a couple of match points. It was a perfect example of why we compete and play the game. You never want to lose this match, but when you can put it all out there you can walk away proud of your effort."
MSU is now 0-4 on the season.
