Montana State freshmen Andrea Cuquerella and Marta Garcia-Reboredo led the Bobcats women’s tennis squad at the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional championship at UNLV last weekend.

Montana State freshmen Andrea Cuquerella and Marta Garcia-Reboredo led the Bobcats women's tennis squad at the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional championship at UNLV last weekend.

Cuquerella, a product of Xahua, Valencia, Spain posted a pair of victories in both singles and doubles action, while Garcia-Reboredo claimed one singles win, before combining with Cuquerella to post two doubles victories.

Garcia-Reboredo, a native of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, played in flight one where she dropped a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 decision to No. 14-seed Maria Oreshkina of Wyoming. She rebounded with a straight set 7-5, 6-2 victory over New Mexico's Polly Chen. Garcia-Reboredo finished out singles action losing to Air Force's Sydney Fitch 6-4, 7-6.

Also playing in flight one was sophomore Mirte Van Baelen. The product of Mol, Belgium opened with a hard-fought loss to No. 8-seed Izumi Asano of UNLV 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Van Baelen went on to notch a 6-2, 6-4 win over Dixie State's Ya-Chi Hsu 6-2, 6-4 to close out the weekend.

Cuquerella dropped her opening match in flight two, before storming back with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Alexandra Hildreth of Dixie State. She closed out singles action with a 7-6, 6-3 decision over Colorado's Ellen Puzak.

Garcia-Reboredo and Cuquerella opened the round of 64 in doubles action with an 8-5 win over BYU's Xenia de Luna and Avery Pope. The duo dropped an 8-4 decision to No. 2-seed Asano and Sasha Aher of UNVL in the round of 32. The freshmen combo also notched a 7-5 win over Ana Conde Vendrell and Pauline Ernstberger of Boise State in consolation play.

Montana State will take a week off before facing Wyoming in Casper on Oct. 29.
