Montana State Earns Win at CSU Pueblo to Win Two of Three on Weekend Road Trip

Bobcats top Thunderwolves to raise season record to 4-3
Montana State wrapped up a quick three-match road swing through Colorado Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Colorado State Pueblo.
MSU dropped the doubles point to the Thunderwolves, but quickly righted the ship. MSU swept through the five singles matches – CSU Pueblo did not offer an opponent at No. 6 singles – to wrap up the win. Manuel Monteiro won quicly 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5, then in succession Nejc Sitar (6-2, 6-1 at No. 1) and Marcos Zelver (6-2, 6-4 at No. 3) earned victories to clinch the team win. Chase Stoner won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 and Joaquin Espinoza earned a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 triumph to close the competition.
"Credit goes to CSU Pueblo for being ready to go," said Bobcat coach Trey Morris of the NCAA Division II Thunderwolves. "They played a phenomenal doubles point. However, as the match went on our quality began to show and we took care of business in singles."
Montana State raised its record to 4-3 with the win. The Bobcats open Big Sky play at home next weekend, hosting Portland State on Saturday, March 7, at 12 noon, and Northern Colorado on Sunday.
