Bengals win four of six singles matches to seal win
BOZEMAN, Montana – Idaho State took four of six singles matches to capture a 5-2 Big Sky men's tennis win against Montana State in Bozeman on Sunday.
The Bengals capped the victory with three-set wins at the fifth and sixth ladder spots to close the match. Drew Brown, at No. 2 singles, and Joaquin Espinoza, at No. 4, earned singles wins for the Bobcats.
Idaho State took the doubles points with a 6-2 win at No. 1 and a 6-1 victory at No. 2. "They really played well in doubles," said Bobcat coach Jared Burnham. "That's about as well as anyone has played against us this season."
The Bengals went ahead 2-0 with a win at No. 1 singles before Brown and Espinoza drew the Cats even at 2-2. The last three matches went to ISU. The Bengals raised their record to 5-3 in Big Sky play, 8-9 overall, while Montana State falls to 2-4 in the league, 3-10 in all matches. The Bobcats play at Idaho on Thursday and Eastern Washington on Saturday.
