Montana State opens Big Sky play on Saturday at Portland State

Senior Alex Flink won in singles play for the third time in his last four matches, but it wasn't enough as Montana State dropped a 6-1 match to Portland on Friday.

Flink defeated Sema Pankin 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-2 at No. 1 singles to even his season record at 3-3. Pankin entered Friday's dual 4-3 on the spring season, and captured set one. But Flink battled back to win the second set in a tie-break, and cruised to a 6-2 win in the third. Flink was the only Bobcat to capture a set on Friday, and Montana State also dropped all three doubles matches.

Montana State opens Big Sky play on Saturday at Portland State. Match time is 2 pm.
