Four Bobcats Earn First-Place Finishes to Lead MSU Track & Field at Montana Open

With part of the MSU roster competing in California, the rest of the Bobcat lineup traveled to Missoula with several wrapping up strong performances, including four that finished atop an event
MISSOULA, Mont. – Four Bobcats completed first-place finishes to pace the Montana State track and field showing at the Montana Open on Saturday, April 14, at Dornblaser Field.
With part of the MSU roster competing in California, the rest of the Bobcat lineup traveled to Missoula with several wrapping up strong performances.
Senior Mason Storm ran a lifetime-best mark and took first in the 110-meter hurdles by crossing the line in 14.86 seconds. Storm placed third in the decathlon for the Bobcats, an event that teammate and sophomore Caleb Neth earned the highest total among competitors with 6,117 points.
Senior Trevor Simanski was the third Bobcat on the men's side to finish atop an event. Simanski placed first in the long jump with a leap of 22-05.25 (6.84m), while Neth finished runner-up with a mark of 21-11.50 (6.69m).
Senior Carter Theade was the women's team's lone first-place finisher. She led an MSU 1-2-4 finish in the pole vault by clearing 11-05.75 (3.50m). Isabella Calabrese cleared the same height but took second behind a judges' decision. Alex Hellenberg took fourth with a vault of 10-06 (3.20m).
Maddie Lee, Annalise Lont, Ahna Kreitinger and Joby Rosenleaf all finished in the top three in their respective events. Lee completed a personal-best time of 2:21.90 in the 800, Lont (1:01.26) and Kreitinger (1:06.47) led MSU in the 400 and 400 hurdles, respectively. Rosenleaf (4:56.65) finished third in the 1,500 and was followed by teammate Morgan Jones (5:16.14).
Courtney Stromme was the Bobcats' top finisher in both sprint events, while Justin Paige and Brock Butcher were MSU's fastest runners in the 200 and 400. Hellenberg took sixth in the long jump, Adeline Richardson finished seventh in the shot put and Jazmin Wilberg scored 3,708 points in the heptathlon for the women's side. Connor Morris rounded the event for the men with a lifetime-best 1:59.31 in the 800.
