Bobcat Netters Pick-Up Five Victories in Final Day of Air Force Invitational

The Montana State women’s tennis team picked-up five more victories at the Air Force Invitational on Saturday. The Bobcats claimed three wins in singles action and two in doubles play.
The Montana State women's tennis team picked-up five more victories at the Air Force Invitational on Saturday. The Bobcats claimed three wins in singles action and two in doubles play.
Three freshmen recorded victories, including Emma Podeur at No. 2 singles, Annie Walker at No. 3 singles and Enni Zander at No. 5 singles.
"This weekend was a great learning experience," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "As a coaching staff we needed to get a mental picture of strengths, weaknesses and tendencies. We wanted everyone to go into the event and play their style of matches."
In doubles action, Montana State's top duo of Laura Mary and Podeur posted an 8-3 win over the twosome from Southern Utah, while the Bobcat freshmen combo of Walker and Sarah Cheverie also recorded at victory with an 8-3 decision over Northern Colorado.
"We now have a solid starting point for each student-athlete's most important areas of development," Reeves said. "Our main goals of getting to know each other as a team, and improving each day were achieved. Therefore, the weekend was successful. We are incredibly young and the excitement to learn and to be part of a team is high."
The Bobcats will compete at the University of Wyoming Invitational in Laramie, Sept. 29.
