The Montana State men's tennis team will host a pair of Big Sky matches when it takes on league foes Sacramento State and Idaho State on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Montana State (5-10, 4-1) will face Sacramento State (9-10, 6-2) Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The Cats will conclude the weekend when it duals Idaho State (10-7, 5-3) on Sunday at 2 pm. MSU's weekend opponents squared off earlier this season with the Hornets besting the Bengals 6-1.
Head coach Jared Burnham nods to his team's strong conference play to their doubles. "We've been playing good doubles. We have three good doubles teams."
The Cats have dropped one doubles point in Big Sky action—coming against Northern Colorado.
The solid doubles play has been led by the tandem of sophomore Alexander Flink and junior Rok Sitar, who have posted three victories at the No. 1 spot. Senior Kellen Bates and junior Adrian Torrico have registered two wins in the No. 2 slot.
Bates and Sitar have shared the top singles position for the Cats. Bates is 2-6 at No. 1 and 0-3 as the No. 2. Sitar is 1-3 and 3-3 in the top spots.
The Bobcats have fared well in Big Sky play at 4-1 and are currently tied for first in the loss column in the Big Sky standings with Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington.
Looking ahead, the Cats outlook is bright for the remainder of the season, playing most of their matches in Bozeman. "We play four out of six [matches] at home," said Burnham. "I think we are better at home."
