Bobcats Net Men's Tennis Win at Idaho State

Harry James leads the way for Cats
Rok Sitar grinded out a third-set win over Idaho State's Josh Goodwin to lead Montana State to a 4-3 men's tennis victory over the Bengals in Pocatello on Saturday.
Playing at No. 4 singles, Sitar won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second by the same score. He earned a 6-2 win in set three. "That was a good performance by Rok," said Bobcat coach Jared Burnham, "and it felt great for the team to get the win. I keep saying this, but we're getting better every time out. Today was another case of that."
The Bobcats captured the doubles point for the second straight match. Alexander Flink and Harry James defeated Sebastian Edin and William Edin 6-3 at No. 1 to seal the point, after Kellen Bats and Sitar captured a win at No. 2. MSU was a point away from winning at No. 3 as well, when that match was vacated.
"We played really well at doubles again," Burnham said. "That's one of our greatest areas of improvement this season."
James, Montana State's lone senior, got singles play off on a strong note for the Bobcats. He beat Bjorn Schespbouwer 6-4, 6-3. Kellen Bates lost at No. 1, but Flink pulled out a tense 7-6, 7-6 decision over William Edin to pull the Bobcats within one match of the victory. James provided that decision.
"Harry really played well," Burnham said. "He's playing with some confidence, and as the senior and leader that will be a positive for the entire team."
The win was Montana State's first of the season, raising the team's record to 1-5 overall, 1-1 in Big Sky play. Idaho State is now 0-4. The Bobcats host Montana in non-conference action on Saturday, February 20, at 12 noon.
