Golf Improves to Ninth Place at Southern Utah

Big drops help MSU move up on final round at Sunbrook
Bobcat Women's Golf jumped two spots to finish ninth overall at the Southern Utah Invitational on Friday. MSU amassed a two day total of 665 (338-315), seeing a huge drop in day-two strokes at Sunbrook Golf Club.
Weber State and Oral Roberts both earned team champion titles with 615. Weber State had a tournament-best 301 in the final round, as well. Marissa Borja, of Eastern Washington, finished as the medalist just one-over par, scoring 145 (72-73).
Haylee Folkvord ended the tournament as MSU's leader, placing 28th with 161 (86-75), a career-best placement for the sophomore. Behind her was Janelle Reali in 33rd, also with a drop in strokes, carding 163 (83-80). Kati Greear, the day one top finisher, ended in 39th with 164 (80-84). Paige Crawford dropped eight strokes from 89 to 81 for a combined 170 and 50th place. Rounding out the MSU scorers was Pamela Calderon Rojas in 62nd with 173 (94-79).
Bergen Buck tied alongside Crawford in 50th with 170 (86-84), competing as an individual. Also competing as an individual was Lauren Hausauer who came in 54th with 171.
"We saw some improvements today, which of course, is great," said head coach Brittany Basye. "For next week, we really need complete games and serious mental toughness for all 54 holes. We're so close to the preparedness level we need to have out there."
MSU will stay on the course the next few days before heading to Primm, Nev. for the Jackrabbit Invitational on March 17-18, hosted by South Dakota State. The Bobcats will play their top-five on the Lakes Course at Primm Valley Golf Club, a par-71, 6,945-yard course.
Bobcat Golf will be seeing many familiar foes in Primm, in hopes of improvement from their previous match-ups. Competing at the Jackrabbit are Arkansas State, British Columbia, Grand Canyon, Missouri State, Missouri-Kansas City, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Winthrop.
The tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. (MDT) start on Monday and will include three rounds of 18 holes.
