Golf Finishes Eighth at Grand Canyon Invitational

Crawford continues to lead Bobcats in final spring
Bobcat Golf finished the Grand Canyon Invitational in eighth place following the final round of play on Tuesday at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Montana State ended the two-day tournament with a combined 54-hole total of 960 (319-317-324).
The Big Sky Conference's Northern Arizona tied with Santa Clara for the team title both with scores of 920.
There was a tie for individual medalist honors between tournament host Grand Canyon's Charlotte Jaengkit and Northern Arizona's Brittany McKee. Jaengkit went on to win on the third playoff hole. She finished with a three-round total of 224 (78-72-74).
Like opening day and all of fall season, Paige Crawford took home top honors for Montana State after jumping one spot to place fifth overall. The senior from Colorado Springs, Colo. carded a 228 (77-74-77), including a 74 in the second round on Monday. She also picked up an eagle over 54 holes and eight birdies.
Janelle Reali came in 16th place, after leading MSU in the first round of play. The true freshman finished with 234 (74-80-80), a collegiate three-round best. Sophomore Kati Greear came in 38th at 242 (82-78-82). Lauren Hausauer and Haylee Folkvord came in 62nd and 64th, respectively. Hausauer shot 256 (86-86-85) while Folkvord finished on stroke behind with 257 (87-85-85).
Pamela Calderon Rojas, Crawford's senior classmate, competed as an individual and placed 50th with 250 (86-82-82). Bergen Buck was the seventh Bobcat competing, also as an individual and picked up a score 265 (96-85-84).
"Paige had a strong showing," said head coach Brittany Basye. "A top-five finish is always great. We still need to work on our consistency as a team and keep control out there on the course."
Bobcat Golf will return to action on March 13, when they travel to St. George, Utah for the SUU Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course.
