MSU will look for big improvement in second half of the season
The two-day tournament, hosted by Grand Canyon, beginning Monday, Feb. 24, will cover 36 holes on day one and a final 18 the next day. The Gold course at Wigwam is a 6,250 yard course and will present a great season-opening challenge for the Bobcats.
"I'm anxious to see who is mentally prepared for this," said head coach Brittany Basye. "Course management is always our focus and just taking it one shot at a time."
Basye has all seven golfers rostered to see how the off season has paid off. Paige Crawford is the unspoken leader of the group, headed into her final spring as a Bobcat. Crawford was the 2013 Big Sky medalist and will set out at Wigwam in the quest to defend her title. Crawford was MSU highest finisher in all four fall tournaments.
"I'm very excited to start up my last season," said Crawford. "I've been working hard all winter and I can't wait to just get out there and play."
Also looking to hit the links on all cylinders are Kati Greear, Lauren Hausauer, Haylee Folkvord, Pamela Calderon Rojas and Bergen Buck.
Montana State will be joined by several programs in Litchfield Park including Cal State-Bakersfield, Creighton, McNeese State, North Dakota State, Santa Clara, Nebraska-Omaha, Northern Kentucky and Utah Valley. In addition, Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Southern Utah and Weber State will be representing the Big Sky Conference on Monday and Tuesday.
