Crawford paces Bobcats with fifth place finish
MSU's highest finisher went to Paige Crawford, essentially carrying over momentum from her Big Sky Championship title in April earlier this year. Crawford ended up in fifth at Missoula Country Club out of 35 golfers. The Colorado Springs, Colo. native finished 11-over with 224 (78-70-76) including a one-under par performance in the second round of play.
Sophomore Kati Greear was the next highest finish in 11th place at 232 (77-76-79) followed by classmate Lauren Hausauer in 15th. Hausauer, who competed as an individual, finished 54 holes with a score of 236 (79-78-79).
In her collegiate debut, freshman Janelle Reali finished two strokes behind of Hausauer and carded a 238 (76-83-79). Reali's impressive opening round score of 76 placed her as the highest Bobcat finisher following the first 18 holes.
Pamela Calderon Rojas came in 20th with 243 (79-80-84). Haylee Folkvord (87-82-82) and Bergen Buck (81-89-81) completed the MSU roster both coming in 26th place.
"Our final round wasn't quite where we wanted it to be," said head coach Brittany Basye, "But it was enough to secure us second place. We saw some good things from our golfers, especially for the first tournament of the year. We're back on the course next week so we'll look for progress and increased focus in Boise."
The Bobcats return to action on Monday, Sept. 16, when they travel to Idaho for the Bronco Fall Invitational hosted by Boise State.
