Bobcats Grab Conference Road Win at Northern Colorado

Kenny Dodd wins clincher at No. 6 singles
Kenny Dodd won at No. 6 to hand Montana State a come-from-behind 4-3 win at Northern Colorado Sunday in each team's Big Sky Conference opener for 2013.
The victory came in a match MSU at one point trailed 3-1. But Niklas Brandes' 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 win at No. 1 singles started a Bobcat comeback that also featured a 6-0, 6-2 win by Prithiv Sivasubramaniam at No. 5 singles.
“We battled back in the singles matches for a big conference win,” said MSU coach Jared Burhnam. “You always have your work cut out for you when you drop the doubles point, but we competed well. We were fortunate in this match, but it was a quality opening weekend for us.”
Montana State's singles losses came in close fashion. Javier Martin-Morillas fell 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-0) to Mitchel Knight at No. 3, while Ben Gendron topped Markus Schleuter 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 2.
The Bobcats continue on the road next weekend, visiting Portland on February 1 and Big Sky rival Portland State on February 2.
