MSU hosts MSU-B Friday before opening Big Sky play Sunday
After a 10-day break in the early-season schedule, Montana State returns to action this weekend in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
MSU Tennis Notes vs. MSU-B, PSU
MSU hosts Montana State-Billings on Friday evening at 5 pm before opening Big Sky play against Portland State on Sunday at 9 am. Both matches are in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center on the MSU campus.
The Bobcats carry a 3-6 record into weekend action, but Mike Phillips believes his team's record belies its level of play. “The guys are competing and improving, and I like where they're heading,” MSU's long-time coach said. “These next few matches are important as we get into the heart of the schedule.”
Freshman Niklas Brandes has settled comfortably into the no. one singles position on the ladder, and he teams with sophomore Markus Schleuter to comprise a formidable doubles tandem. Phillips continues to search for consistency behind Brandes and Schleuter, but sees positive signs. “I like the work ethic and enthusiasm of this team.”
