Two Bobcats tie as top finishers
Montana State improved two spots from the opening day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational to finish 12th overall at the two-day tournament hosted by Hawaii in Honolulu. (Day One Results | Final Results)
The Bobcats finished with a combined three-round score of 967 (329-320-318), showing improvement with each round. The overall team champion was Texas A&M who carded a 901 (303-300-298).
Montana State's top finishers were Paige Crawford and Leslie McGetrick, who tied for 39th with 237. Crawford, who was in 34th after the opening day's two rounds, shot 77-79-81. McGetrick, who jumped from 48th to 39th, shot 80-77-80.
Kayla Mortellaro of Idaho, amassed a score of 221 (73-73-75), finishing five over par.
Kelly O'Brien improved nine spots from Tuesday, placing 60th overall, carding 243 (84-82-77). Coming in 78th was Molly Dorans with 256 (94-82-80). Rounding out the Bobcat competitors was Melissa Hultstrand in 82nd with 264 (88-83-93).
"We really played better today," said head coach Brittany Basye. "We're getting more rounds under our belt to prepare us for Conference. All the ladies had some good things happen to build and continue improving upon."
MSU will hit the links again on Sunday, April 1, at the Gonzaga Spring Individual in Spokane, Wash.
