Bobcats Head North for Weekend Matches at Eastern Washington, Gonzaga

Cats set to face Eagles on Friday, Bulldogs on Saturday
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's tennis team heads back on the road this weekend for a pair of matches in the state of Washington, facing Eastern Washington at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney on Friday and Gonzaga at the Stevens Center in Spokane on Saturday.
Both matches are set to begin at 11 a.m. MT on their respective days. Saturday's match against Gonzaga will be live streamed here, and live stats will be available here.
"We're back on the road for two more great opportunities," Montana State head coach Hailey Barrett said. "Eastern Washington is another tough conference opponent, and then we'll continue our strong non-conference schedule with Gonzaga. We're excited to build on the positives from last weekend."
Montana State faced Big Sky foe Sacramento State in the Bobcats' home opener on Sunday, winning the doubles point and playing two super tiebreak matches in singles in a 5-2 loss to the Hornets. Lola Bean posted an impressive 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-3 victory over Emilija Pranyte at No. 5 singles to highlight the Bobcats' day, while Angel Bean came within points of victory in a tight 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1), 12-10 loss to Irene Riva. In doubles, Terezie Stverakova and Anna Wise earned a 6-3 win from the No. 1 slot, and Angel Bean and Nia Gelashvili posted a 6-2 victory from court two.
The Bobcats will seek their first Big Sky win of the season when they face the Eagles on Friday. Eastern Washington is off to a 6-4 start, with Friday marking the Eagles' Big Sky opener. The Eagles won five-straight matches to open the month of February before falling to Boise State, 4-0, in a neutral-site match in Spokane on Feb. 28. The Bobcats are historically strong against Eastern Washington, holding a 41-5 all-time record against the Eagles.
Montana State and Gonzaga hold an equal 9-9 record against each other since the 1999-2000 season, with Saturday's match serving as the tiebreaker. The Bobcats won their most recent match over the Bulldogs, 4-2, in Spokane in 2024. Gonzaga enters the weekend with a 5-6 record and will look to snap a four-match losing streak when it faces the Bobcats on Saturday.
Following this weekend's matches, the Bobcats back to the Pacific Northwest for a trio of matches against Portland State on March 15 (4 p.m. MT), Portland on March 17 (11 a.m. MT), and Seattle U on March 19 (10 a.m.)
