Montana State falls to Nevada in tiebreaker in Wednesday’s championship match
PALM DESERT, Calif. --- The Montana State women's golf team earned a runner-up finish at Mountain Classic Match Play in Palm Desert, Calif., on Wednesday, falling to Nevada in a tiebreaker following a 2.5-2.5 battle in the championship match.
Norah Seidl completed her perfect week with her third match win of the tournament while Lauren Greeny also added a win for the Cats. Sailor Graham played to a tie to add the final half-point for the Bobcats in a battle that came down to the final hole. After three days of competition, the Bobcats finished the week 2-1 as a team.
"It was a fight to the end out there today," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "Nevada played well; we just needed a couple more putts to drop. It was a good start to our spring season. I am super proud of how the team fought until the end – they battled back. We learn from each round! Any time we can put ourselves in the final pairing of a tournament means we are doing something right! It was some good golf this week."
Seidl earned her third win in as many days with a 2&1 victory over Marina Nonaka to collect the Cats' first point of the day. She took holes No. 1 and 4 to go 2-up early before Nonaka secured Nos. 5, 9, and 10 to take the lead. Seidl responded with a win on No. 13 and later took Nos. 16 and 17 to clinch her victory.

Kano responded by taking Nos. 11-13 to bring the match to all-square before Greeny retook the lead by securing hole No. 14. Kano tied the match on No. 16, and Greeny secured each of the final two holes to clinch her 2-up victory.
Graham finished all-square with Hannah Stouder in the final team match of the day. Graham took the lead on No. 2 and remained 1-up until hole No. 9, when Stouder brought the match back to all-square. Stouder won Nos. 11 and 13, and Graham responded by securing Nos. 15 and 16 to tie the match with two holes to go. Stouder took No. 17, and Graham secured No. 18 as the match ended in a tie.
