Bobcat Men's Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision at Air Force

MSU picks up wins at fifth and sixth ladder spots
(Jan. 24, 2026) – A pair of Bobcat freshmen won singles matches, but Air Forced scratched out a 5-2 men's tennis win against Montana State at the Air Force Academy Indoor Courts on Saturday.
David Ismanescu too a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 5 singles, while Ethan Masselis won 6-3, 7-6 (4) at the sixth ladder spot for the Bobcats. Air Force's AJ Moore took a 2-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 win over Yassin Elaroussy at No. 3, and the Falcons also earned wins over MSU's Andre Stewart (6-3, 7-6 (5) at No. 1), Oumar Diallo (6-4, 7-5 at No.2) and Camille Chantron (6-4, 6-4) at No. 4.
The doubles point proved exhilarating and, for the Bobcats, excruciating. After Brown and Laird dispatched Stewart and Diallo 6-3 at No. 1, the matches at the lower ladder positions evolved into tie-breaker barn-burners. On court three, Ismanescu and Yassin Elaroussy fought from behind to force extra tennis, then closed the match with three straight points to win the tie-breaker 10-8.
On court two, with the doubles point hanging in the balance, Eddie Biss and Camille Chantron led 40-30 up 6-5, but Moore and Langdon Tingleaf served out to send the set to a tie-breaker. The AFA pair jumped out to a 5-1 lead and held on for a 7-5 win.
Montana State falls to 1-2 on the season, while Saturday's match was Air Force's season opener. The Cats play at Denver on Sunday at 10:30 am.
