The Montana State volleyball team hosts its second non-conference tournament of the season this weekend in Shroyer Gym.
NEXT UP: The Montana State volleyball team hosts its second non-conference tournament of the season this weekend in Shroyer Gym. The EVEN Hotel Bobcat Classic begins Thursday as MSU faces Nevada at 7 p.m. Nevada and Santa Clara meet Friday at 1 p.m., before Montana State closes out the tournament against the Broncos on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
CATS COME UP SHORT AT ASICS INVITATIONAL: Montana State went 0-3 at the ASICS Invitational last weekend in Corvallis, Ore. The Bobcats opened with a 3-0 setback to Oregon State. Karli Heidemann paced MSU with nine kills, while Lauren Lindseth anchored the backrow with a match-high 12 digs. UNLV took a 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 decision on Friday. Heidemann again paced the Cats with 12 kills, while Joelie Spelts added five blocks. MSU dropped its final contest of the tournament to UC Irvine in four sets on Saturday. Heidemann had a weekend-high 17 kills, while Lindseth chipped in a weekend-high 26 digs.
EVEN HOTEL BOBCAT CLASSIC SCOUTING REPORT: Nevada enters Thursday's match 3-5 overall. The Wolf Pack went 2-1 last weekend at its own Nevada Invite. UN defeated Eastern Washington 3-1, and Pacific 3-1, before dropping a 3-0 decision to Cal State Bakersfield. Nevada has been led this season by 6-2 junior outside hitter Haylee Brown, who is averaging 3.17 kills per set with a .156 attack mark. Setter Audrey Jensen is dishing out 5.77 assists per set, while Kinsley Singleton guides the team averaging 3.60 digs per game. Santa Clara is 4-5 overall after defeating San Jose State 21-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-16, 17-15 on Tuesday night. The Broncos were led by Cate Shanahan and Selin Aslayan with 13 kills, apiece. Santa Clara has five players averaging 2.00 kills per set or more. SC is led by Shanahan, a 6-2 sophomore-redshirt outside hitter from Toronto, Canada, who averages 2.97 kps. Setter Macy Hinshaw is averaging 9.81 assists per set, while Lexi Trapani leads the Bronco defense averaging 3.61 digs per contest.
MOVIN' ON UP: Senior libero Lauren Lindseth moved into third on MSU's all-time career digs chart with 52 saves last weekend. Lindseth's career total stands at 1,639 digs.

- Senior libero Lauren Lindseth averaged 4.70 digs per set at the Oregon State-ASICS Invitational, last weekend in Corvallis, Ore. The CMR graduate also chipped in three aces and added seven assists. On the season, Lindseth is averaging 4.76 digs per set, which is tops in the Big Sky Conference and ranks 24th in the nation. Lindseth's current total of 162 digs ranks 26th in the country. Two weeks ago, Lindseth made two jumps up the Montana State all-time career digs list. The product of Great Falls ranks third in Bobcat history with 1,639 career digs, trailing Allyssa Rizzo (2,122) and Kandice Kelly (1,720).
- Sophomore outside hitter Karli Heidemann paced the Bobcats last weekend averaging a team-best 3.80 kills per set. She is currently averaging 3.35 kps, which ranks fourth in the Big Sky Conference. In all, Heidemann totaled 38 kills over the weekend, including 17 in MSU's four-set loss to UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon. The native of Diller, Neb., has 334 total attacks on the season, which ranks fourth in the league and 89th in the nation.
- Senior middle blocker Camryn Greenwald had an efficient weekend of play at Oregon State hitting a team-high .464 from the field. Greenwald, who averaged 1.56 kills per set, had 14 kills, one error on 28 swings. The Woodbury, Minn., product recorded a career-high 17 kills in MSU's win over Maryland Eastern Shore at the Gonzaga Invite, Sept. 4. Greenwald's current .413 attack mark is the second highest total in the Big Sky and ranks 39th in the country.
- Junior Joelie Spelts was MSU's top blocker at the Oregon State-ASICS Invitational. The Gillette, Wyo., product averaged .80 blocks per set, which included five blocks in MSU's four-set setback to UC Irvine on Saturday.
- Third-year head coach Matt Houk used 13 players at the Oregon State-ASICS Invitational, last weekend. Due to injury, the Bobcats were without starting setter freshman Teagan Jaynes for all three matches and starting outside hitter freshman Elli Tufto against UC Irvine.
