Bobcats playing host to first tournament in Bozeman since 2012
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's golf team is set to welcome 10 teams to Riverside Country Club on Monday and Tuesday for the Yellowstone Intercollegiate. The tournament marks the culmination of a decade-long wait for the Bobcats to compete at home as MSU hosts the first collegiate golf tournament in Bozeman since 2012.
The Yellowstone Intercollegiate will consist of 54 holes of golf across two days with teams teeing off in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on the par-72, 6,319-yard course each day. The Bobcats will play 36 continuous holes on Monday followed by an 18-hole final round on Tuesday.
"We're thrilled to be hosting our home tournament at Riverside," head coach Brittany Basye said. "It feels great to be back in Bobcat Country. The best part of hosting is giving our players a chance to compete in front of our Bobcat fans, and this week seven players on our team will be competing. Coming off a strong finish last week at UNM, the team should be bringing confidence and momentum. We've got a competitive field, and it should make for an exciting couple of days of golf."
Montana State is one of 11 teams set to tee off at Riverside Country Club. Six of the Big Sky Conference's 10 teams will be in attendance, providing an early-season benchmark for the Bobcats against conference competition. Joining Montana State in representing the Big Sky are Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, and Portland State. Additionally, California Baptist, Cal State Northridge, Gonzaga, North Dakota, and North Dakota State are set to make the trip to Bozeman.
The Yellowstone Intercollegiate marks the second tournament in two weeks for the Bobcats as part of a string of four-straight weeks of competition to open the season. The Cats opened the 2025-26 campaign with a strong performance at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., finishing fourth with a 54-hole score of 883 to match their 11th-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history. Junior Eva Heinz tied for second individually, carding rounds of 73-72-69 to finish the week at 2-under 214, which equaled the 11th-lowest 54-hole individual score in Bobcat history. Heinz sunk 11 birdies en route to her career-best finish.
Seven of the Bobcats' eight golfers will compete on the Bobcats' home course, including two making their collegiate golf debuts. The Cats' lineup at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate consists of Eva Heinz, Lauren Greeny, Maddie Montoya, Ashleigh Wilson, and Norah Seidl while freshmen Lauren Nau and Sailor Graham will compete as individuals.
The Yellowstone Intercollegiate offers a long-awaited opportunity for fans to see the Bobcats play in their own backyard. The Cats last competed in Bozeman to kick off the 2012-13 season, hosting the five-team Bobcat Invitational at Riverside Country Club. Montana State last held a tournament in the state of Montana in the fall of 2021 when it placed second in the most recent iteration of the Battle at Old Works in Anaconda.
Basye encourages fans to take advantage of the chance to see the Bobcats in Bozeman.
"It's time to be loud – come out and cheer on our Bobcat Golfers," Basye said.
The Bobcats are paired with North Dakota State and California Baptist on Monday and will tee off from holes 1 through 4 in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Graham and Nau will be paired with individuals from various schools and will begin their days on holes 17 and 18, respectively. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
