“That was a huge win for Jo and Meg over the team that won regionals this fall,” said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. “They went out and just had fun. Meg set up the court well, and Jo controlled the net. They battled and they won the big points.”
Montana State's top doubles pairing of Jojo Bach and Meg McCarty recorded their best win of the season knocking off No. 29-ranked Andrea Beltran and Marley Lambert of Denver 7-6(7-3), Friday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park. Despite the upset, the Pioneers snapped MSU's four-match win streak with a 7-0 decision.
"That was a huge win for Jo and Meg over the team that won regionals this fall," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "They went out and just had fun. Meg set up the court well, and Jo controlled the net. They battled and they won the big points."
After capturing the doubles point, DU took control in singles winning at Nos. 2, 5 and 6 to clinch the match. The Bobcats went to 10-point tiebreaks at Nos. 3 and 4 but fell in the waning moments of each set.
"We had some opportunities," Woodburn said. "We had two 10-pointers, and we're finding ways to compete. I thought Nia and Angel did a great job battling in their matches."
