Greeny, Graham card 73s on Tuesday as Bobcats finish 14th
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. --- The Montana State women's golf team wrapped up its fall portion of the 2025-26 season at Cedar Ridge Country Club on Tuesday, placing 14th at the Route 66 Invitational Honoring Dale McNamara.
The Bobcats posted their strongest round of the tournament on Tuesday, carding a 295 behind rounds of 73 by Lauren Greeny and Sailor Graham. Montana State finished the Tulsa-hosted event with rounds of 306, 303, and 295 for a final tally of 904. Greeny led the Bobcats with a 54-hole score of 225 to tie for 42nd amidst a tough field in Broken Arrow, Okla.
"We got a taste of what it's like to play in a Power Five tournament, and we finished where we started as far as how we ranked against this field," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We didn't play our games like we needed or wanted. We saw a few moments with each player of what we are capable of; we just didn't put three rounds together this week. What a great experience for our players. It will be important for us to remember the positives and learn from the negatives."
The Bobcats counted a pair of 73s by Greeny and Graham in the third round, along with a 74 by Eva Heinz and a 75 from Norah Seidl. Montoya posted a 78 to round out Montana State's lineup on Tuesday. Greeny posted four birdies in her final round along with a string of 12-straight bogey-free holes to lead the Bobcats' final round effort. Graham was bogey-free on 16 of 18 holes to match Greeny's score, carding eight-straight par-or-better holes to open the round before going bogey-free on eight of her final nine holes.
Greeny tied for 42nd overall with a score of 225, Graham finished one stroke behind in a tie for 48th (226), Heinz posted a 228 for a share of 57th, and Seidl and Montoya tied for 68th with scores of 232.
No. 8 Arkansas captured the team title with an 11-under 841 performance while fellow Southeastern Conference competitor Oklahoma finished 8-under 844. Tulsa rounded out the top-three teams at 17-over 869.
Oklahoma's Savannah Barber earned the individual victory in a close battle with Arkansas' Maria Jose Marin, who finished 11-under 202 and 10-under 203, respectively. Oklahoma's Gracie Mayo finished third at 7-under with Minnesota's Isabella McCauley and Arkansas' Reagan Zibilski tying for fourth at 3-under.
The Dale McNamara Invitational capped off a fall slate featuring six tournaments for the Bobcats, including five in which they competed for a team score. During that six-week span, Montana State earned four top-four team finishes, highlighted by its first team title since 2002 at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, along with medalist performances by Eva Heinz at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate and Lauren Greeny at the Diane Thomason Invitational. The Bobcats broke numerous records this fall, including the MSU and Big Sky Conference record for individual low 18-hole round (62 – Eva Heinz, Yellowstone Intercollegiate) and MSU's team low 54-hole score (848, Yellowstone Intercollegiate). Additionally, Greeny broke the Diane Thomason Invitational record for low tournament score (211) and the Finkbine Golf Course record for low round in a women's tournament (64) during MSU's trip to Iowa two weeks ago, earning her program record-tying fourth Big Sky Golfer of the Week award for her performance.
"I'd say overall, our fall was a success," Basye said. "We have a deep team, with any one of our players showing up to lead for that day. It will be nice for them to take a break and enjoy the rest of the fall in Bozeman and get back to being full-time student-athletes. Coach Joey [Lovell] and I will review fall stats – team and individual – and start focusing on our spring season. This is a great group of ladies – very special. I'm proud of them for giving one hundred percent effort this fall!"
