Cats set to face Washington State on Tuesday
PALM DESERT, Calif. --- The Montana State women's golf team kicked off its spring season with a 3.5-1.5 win over Wyoming on the first day of Mountain Classic Match Play in Palm Desert, Calif., on Monday.
Eva Heinz, Sailor Graham, and Norah Seidl all won their respective matches to help the Cats earn the victory at the Classic Club. The Bobcats will face Washington State in the semifinals on Tuesday as they seek to punch their ticket to Wednesday's championship match.
"Tomorrow, we have another opportunity to keep working on our games while getting to play a great golf course," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "Happy with the play from all of them today. They kept fighting no matter what. We have a new match tomorrow, and we will continue the gritty play."
Heinz earned a 6&5 victory over Elle Higgins for the Bobcats' first point, taking the lead on the fourth hole and never relinquishing it as she increased her advantage by taking Nos. 6, 8, and 9 to go 4-up before making the turn. Heinz secured back-to-back holes on Nos. 12 and 13 to go 6-up with five holes remaining and win her match for the Cats.

Seidl won No. 5 followed by Reisner on No. 6 before Seidl pulled the match to all-square on hole No. 7. Reisner won Nos. 11 and 12 before Seidl took over, securing five-straight holes between Nos. 13 and 17 to clinch her victory and the match for the Bobcats.
