Cats capture win at No. 2 doubles
Montana State freshmen Eddie Biss and Yassin Elarousy combined to win a doubles match but Denver topped the Bobcats 7-0 on Sunday at the Denver Tennis Pak.
Facing an experienced Pioneers team that finished the 2023-24 season ranked No. 42 nationally, MSU dropped the doubles point in competitive fashion then fell in all seven singles matches. Denver captured each of the singles matches in straight-set fashion against a youthful Montana State lineup that features returning sophomore Andre Stewart and six newcomers.
"Denver has a mature team that doesn't let up on you at any point," said MSU coach Mateus Ceolin. "We created a few chances, but were not able to pull it through. This is the level I envision our team getting to in the next few years. I'm happy for Eddie and Yassin getting their first win in doubles. The have the potential to become a really good team."
Montana State hosts its first match of the home season on Sunday when North Dakota visits the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The match begins at 11 am.
