Weather cuts short Kelsey Chugg Invitational in Utah, Scarlet Weidig tallies another top-ten individual finish
EDEN, Utah – Mother Nature cut short the season opener for the Montana State golf team, as heavy overnight thunderstorms on Monday night in Utah forced Tuesday's final round of the 54-hole Kelsey Chugg Invitational to be cancelled due to unplayable conditions.
With the decision, 36-hole results from Monday at Wolf Creek Golf Club were made official. The Bobcats finished seventh in the 11-team field, coming in at 47-over par.
California Baptist placed first with a 36-hole score of 19-over par, while Weber State finished runner-up at 22-over par and Utah Tech was third at 29-over par.
"We have some things to work on before heading over to Circling Raven," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We'll go back to the practice area for a couple days and be ready for the next tournament and be ready to compete. We'll learn from our rounds here."
Scarlet Weidig tied for tenth overall, shooting 76 in both of Monday's rounds to finish 8-over par.
Maddie Montoya (77-81) and Hannah Boraas (80-78) tied for 35th, finishing at 14-over par.
Lauren Greeny shot a 76 in the first round but ended the day tied for 39th, finishing at 16-over par.
Eva Heinz placed 53rd to round out the scorers for the Cats, while Jordan Briggs tied for 56th and Belle Brezovski tied for 64th competing as individuals.
