MSU's season ends with defeat
Weber State's William Zulch captured a three-set victory over Bobcat Andre Stewart at No. 5 singles to clinch a 4-2 WSU win at the Big Sky Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday.
The Wildcats nearly matched their 4-3 regular season win against MSU, grabbing the doubles point then taking three singles matches to take the team win. Mac Relic at No. 1 singles and Andras Necz at No. 3 both reversed their earlier decisions by taking straight set wins. Bobcat losses on court two and court four stand out as particularly heartbreaking for MSU. At No. 2 singles, Weber State's Elyes Marouani took a 5-7, 7-6 (11-9), 6-1 victory by fighting off six match points against Dario Ciobotaru. On court four, MSU's Rayen Hermassi had four set points in his 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 4-4 unfinished match. Andre Stewart dropped a three-set decision in which he had one set point.
The Bobcats finish the season 9-12 after competing in the Big Sky Tournament as the fifth seed.
