
Bobcat Track and Field Hosting Big Sky Tuner on Friday

Final regular season meet of the winter will take place inside Worthington Arena on Friday ahead of next week’s Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State track and field wraps up their winter slate of indoor meets with the Big Sky Tuner on Friday, the fourth and final home meet of the season ahead of next week's Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Spokane.
Field events get underway with the men's weight throw, women's long jump, and men's high jump at 3 p.m. Track events also begin at 3 p.m. with the women's 3,000 meters.

Other participating teams on Friday will include Montana Western, Montana Tech, Rocky Mountain College, Carroll College, Providence College, Southern Idaho, and Salt Lake.
The Big Sky Tuner marks the last opportunity for the Cats to dial in ahead of the Big Sky Championships, which begin Wednesday, Feb. 22, at The Podium in Spokane, hosted by Eastern Washington.
Among the highlights on Friday, the men's and women's mile races, which will begin at 6:25 p.m. and run through 7:10 p.m., should be an exciting cap to the night's action as the Cats' distance runners aim for qualifying times.
Colby Wilson, who currently ranks 19th in NCAA Division I in the pole vault (5.42m), will also look to try and move into the top-16 in the country and position himself for a qualifying mark to March's NCAA Division I Championships in Boston. The men's pole vault on Friday begins at 3:15 p.m.
At last week's Bobcat Performance meet, the 4x400 meter relays stole the show for the home side inside Worthington Arena, as the women's group of Peyton Garrison, Caroline Hawkes, Giulia Gandolfi, and Madison Smith broke their own school record for the second time this season, crossing the line in a converted time of 3:40.85.
The men's 4x400 relay similarly impressed, as the squad of Stryder Todd-Fields, Tyler Gilman, Michael Swan Jr., and Jett Grundy, turned in the second-fastest relay in school history, finishing in a converted time of 3:13.11.
Earlier in the day, Elijah Jackman posted a massive personal best in the men's weight throw, recording a mark of 64-05.75 on his final throw to move up to fifth all-time in MSU history.
On the season, the Bobcat women have set two school records in the 60 meters and 4x400 meter relay, and have collected 14 top-ten marks overall. The Bobcat men have set two school records in the 60 meters and 5,000 meters and have collected 14 marks that rank inside the top-ten in program history.
Montana State is currently ranked second on both the men's and women's sides in the Big Sky according to the USTFCCCA Track and Field Rating Index, and ninth in the Mountain Region. The Bobcat men are one spot behind Colorado and ahead of both Wyoming and Utah State in the regional rankings, while the Bobcat women are one spot behind New Mexico State and ahead of Nevada and Utah, among others.
