
MSU Hosts Wyoming and Montana in Bobcat Challenge on Friday

Rivalry clash pits Cats against two regional foes in double dual meet at Worthington Arena
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State track and field returns to action on Friday morning, hosting the Bobcat Challenge at Worthington Arena.
The Bobcats will welcome both Wyoming and Montana in a double dual meet at the Cats' home facility.
First place finishers in individual events will earn five points for their team, the runner-up three points, third place two points, and fourth place one point. Relay event winners earn five points, while the runner-up earns three points. Only the top two finishers per team in each event will earn points.
Field event action from Worthington Arena gets underway at 10 a.m. with the men's weight throw, while track action begins at 11 a.m. with prelims for the women's 60 meter hurdles.

Admission to all Bobcat home track and field meets at Worthington Arena is free.
Friday's meet will set in motion a dead sprint for the Bobcats' indoor track and field schedule, with competitions every weekend until the Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships in Spokane on February 22-24.
Montana State is coming off a solid showing at the Spokane Sports Showcase at The Podium in Spokane on Jan. 12.
Noah Barbery re-wrote the Bobcat record book with a 6.80 mark in the men's 60 meters, while the women's 1,600 meter relay team of Peyton Garrison, Caroline Hawkes, Giulia Gandolfi, and Madison Smith broke the indoor school record with a time of 3:42.45.
Colby Wilson was named Big Sky Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week after clearing 17-08.5 in the pole vault, at the time the fifth-best mark in NCAA Division I and currently the best mark in the Big Sky this season.
Elijah Jackman won the men's weight throw with a personal-best throw of 18.18 meters, and followed that up with a fifth-place finish in the shot put (15.47m). The Bobcat men's 4x400 meter relay team of Sean Jackson, Jett Grundy, Tyler Gilman, and Michael Swan turned in a blazing time of 3:15.41, good for the sixth-fastest time in program history.
Ben Perrin headlines a distance group for the Cats that placed 13th in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November. Perrin broke both the school and facility record in the men's 5,000 meters with a converted time of 13:29.16 at the season-opening Bobcat PReview meet on December 7.
In the Big Sky Preseason Coaches' Poll, Montana State was picked to finish second on the women's side and third on the men's side. Northern Arizona was selected as the preseason favorite.
