MSU Standouts Earn Outdoor Track & Field Team Honors

Montana State track and field standouts Duncan Hamilton, Drake Schneider and Elena Carter have been named outstanding outdoor track athletes of the year, while Colby Wilson and Lucy Corbett garnered outstanding field athletes, announced Dale Kennedy Director of Track and Field Lyle Weese.
Montana State track and field standouts Duncan Hamilton, Drake Schneider and Elena Carter have been named outstanding outdoor track athletes of the year, while Colby Wilson and Lucy Corbett garnered outstanding field athletes, announced Dale Kennedy Director of Track and Field Lyle Weese.
Hamilton, a product of Bozeman High, closed out an incredible outdoor season finishing fourth at the USA Track and Field Championships in the 3000m steeplechase in June. His season also included a Big Sky Conference title, a Big Sky record-breaking performance and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships- all in steeplechase.
Schneider, from Eau Claire, Wis., capped his Bobcat career winning his fourth straight Big Sky 400m hurdle title, while garnering All-America honors after placing sixth at the NCAA Championships. He also advanced to the semifinals of the 400m hurdles at the USA Track & Field championships.
Carter, a junior from Helena, played a major role for the Bobcats at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, winning the 100m hurdles and running the opening leg of the 4x100m relay which captured gold in a MSU record-breaking performance. She also finished first in the long jump at the league meet.
Carter, along with Alex Hellenberg, Longmont, Colo., were Top Gun women's recipients for most points scored during the outdoor season. The duo each posted 28 points at the conference meet. Ben Perrin, Kalispell, was the men's Top Gun honoree with 18 points.
Freshmen Angellica Street, throws, Columbia Falls, and Matt Furdyk, throws, Lynden, Wash., were recipients of the Rising Star awards given to the top newcomers of the year.
