Matej Panik Leads Cats on First Day of ITA Fall Regionals Tennis Tournament

Bobcats continue play on Friday
Montana State junior Matej Panik earned the team's lone victory at the ITA Fall Regionals at the University of New Mexico on Thursday.
Panik won in three sets to reel in the victory. He beat the University of Montana's Moritz Stoeger 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, and advances to the round of 32 on Friday to face Justin Waldman of Air Force.
Four other Bobcats dropped their first round matches in the main draw on Thursday. Senior Nejc Sitar fell to Franco Capalbo of Utah 3-6, 0-6. Max Relic fell to Weber State's Tristan Sarap 6-7 (4), 4-6. Brad Buckland fell to Northern Arizona's Dominik Buzonics 2-6, 2-6. Jamieson Nathan lost 4-6, 6-2, 2-6 to Matteo Masala of Idaho. In the Lobo Draw, Jacob Huppin fell to Luc Fe D'ostiani of New Mexico State 2-6, 4-6.
The tournament continues on Friday and Saturday.
