Bobcat Men's Tennis Team Performs Well at ITA Regionals

Newcomer Matej Panik advanced to the round of 16 in singles play
Montana State men's tennis players turned in strong performances in the ITA Regional Tournament in Provo, Utah, which culminated Saturday.The top players representing 15 teams from the inter-mountain area gathered at BYU over the past five days.
In singles competition, Matej Panik advanced to the round of 16 in a singles draw of 128 competitors. In doubles play, Panik and Daan Van Dijk beat four seeded teams on the way to the finals. The two beat teams from BYU, Utah, Idaho State, Idaho and UNLV. Also, Brad Buckland and Marcos Zelver advanced to the quarterfinals round. Along the way, the two beat teams from Denver, BYU, and NAU.
In all, Montana State individuals and doubles teams earned 17 match wins against top competition from the region. The tournament served as a qualifier for the national tournament later this fall.
