COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Two Montana State track and field student-athletes had a chance to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Friday, May 28, at E.B. Cushing Stadium. Both Noah Martin and Ethan Saberhagen completed their events at the regional meet before inclement weather postponed the day's remaining events including the men's steeplechase which is set to feature MSU's Duncan Hamilton and Levi Taylor.
Martin finished among the top of the standings in the men's high jump as he tied for 14th overall. The 2021 Big Sky outdoor champion in the event cleared the first three heights on his first attempts before bowing out of the competition at the 7-foot-1 mark. Martin's official final mark was 06-11 (2.11m) to tie with fourth other individuals.
Saberhagen wrapped up his first regional meet experience by appearing in the discus. His best recorded throw of 161-00 (49.09) placed him 45th overall.
A lightning delay ahead of the slated track events eventually resulted in a postponement of what remained on Friday. All of the Friday's track events, including the men's steeplechase, are expected to take place on Saturday. Hamilton and Taylor will wait for their chance to race, while Bobcat women Lucy Corbett and Carla Nicosia are scheduled to compete on Saturday.
An updated schedule for the meet when it is available, along with live results, will be available online here. Remaining links for the championships are available on the Montana State track and field schedule pages on msubobcats.com.
