Montana State track and field gets back to work in Worthington Arena Friday
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Three weeks remain until the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships as Montana State continues to prepare for its appearance at the meet. The Bobcats host the MSU Indoor Open beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 7, inside of Worthington Arena.
Montana State welcomes student-athletes from Carroll College, Providence and Rocky Mountain to Bozeman for the Friday event. The Bobcats have athletes travel to two separate meets from Feb. 13-15, then close out their indoor regular season in Bozeman with the Big Sky Tuner on Feb. 21.
"This weekend we'll have three weeks until conference championships so it's getting down to crunch time," said Lyle Weese, Montana State's director of track and field. "Our teams have to be ready to go, so we're excited to have another check point and see where our team is at."
The Bobcats continue to have several standout performers as the indoor season winds down.
Collin Buck (3,000), Duncan Hamilton (mile), Noah Martin (high jump) and Alec Nehring (shot put) each rank among the top 75 in their respective event on the Division I indoor performance list.
The Bobcats have had 12 performances alter the program's all-time top 10 chart this season. Will Prettyman has provided two of those efforts as he's moved into fifth in MSU history in both the men's 60 and 200 during his freshman season. Bradley Graves and Derrick Olsen have each entered MSU's top five in the men's 60 hurdles, while Morgan Evans has the women's team's top performance as she sits eighth all-time in the same event.
MSU's women's squad features 11 athletes that hold current top 10 marks on the Big Sky performance list. Senior McKenna Ramsay is the lone Bobcat on the women's team with two top 10 marks as she's led the 'Cats this year in the 400 and 800.
The Bobcat men's team has 15 representatives among the top 10 on Big Sky performance list. Prettyman and Wyatt Thompson-Siporen are listed in two events apiece, while Martin is ranked at the top of the high jump with his collegiate-best leap of 7-01.50 (2.17m).
The MSU Indoor Open begins with field events at 4 p.m. Running events in Worthington Arena start at 5 p.m. Fans can attend the meet for free in person while it also will be streamed on Pluto TV and WatchBigSky.com. Live results are available at msubobcats.com/trackresults.
