Bobcats Close Out Wyoming Tourney; Zander Makes Flight B Doubles Championship

Montana State junior Enni Zander combined with Colorado State’s Riley Reeves in Flight B Doubles play at the University of Wyoming’s fall tournament over the weekend.

Montana State junior Enni Zander combined with Colorado State's Riley Reeves in Flight B Doubles play at the University of Wyoming's fall tournament over the weekend. The duo advanced to the championship match of the flight, before falling 6-2 to Wyoming's Ana Royo and Ana Fernandez.

In addition, the Bobcats picked up numerous victories in the back draw over the weekend paced by sophomore Linnea Fristam's two wins. The Farum, Denmark product defeated Central Oklahoma's Nikki Boyar 6-4, 3-6, 10-0, before dispatching Wyoming's Mihaela Kaftanova 6-4, 6-2.

Also posting victories were Mirte Van Baelen with a 6-3, 6-2 win over South Dakota's Sille Tranberg. Newcomer JJ Chen posted a 6-1, 3-6, 13-11 victory over Lexi Penn of Central Oklahoma, and Daphne Haverkamp notched a hard-fought 5-7, 6-1, 10-7 win over UCO's Patricia Gribi.

In doubles consolation play, the tandem of Haverkamp and Chen defeated Central Oklahoma's Boyar and Paola Landin 6-3.

MSU will play at the Washington State Cougar Classic on Oct. 4.
