Bobcats Complete Solid Opening Day at Old Works Course

Montana State senior Kelly Hooper is in contention for an individual title heading into final round action
ANACONDA, Mont. – Montana State senior Kelly Hooper sits among the individual leaders and the Bobcats put together two strong rounds to begin play at the Battle at Old Works on Monday, Sept. 16, at Old Works Golf Course.
Hooper held the lead through the first round and is tied for second after 36 holes. The MSU senior was a tournament field-best 3-under on par 5s. She was also among the top 5 in scoring on par 3s, total pars (24) and total birdies (7).
She shot rounds of 70 and 72 and sits 2-under-par 142 heading into the final round Tuesday. Hooper's first round score of 70 was the second best 18-hole round score of her collegiate career.
Montana State sits in fourth place in the team standings after day one of the MSU-hosted tournament. The Bobcats carded a 596 with back-to-back rounds of 295 and 301. The 295 is the ninth lowest score in program history and tied their previous best at Old Works. The Bobcats sit two back of North Dakota State in the team standings while Cal Poly is in first with 585 strokes.
Delaney Elliott, Lucia Prieto Romano, Annika Danenhauer and Coral Schulz all played in MSU's lineup Monday.
Elliott fired a 6-over 150 (73-77) and is tied for 14th. She is tied for fourth in the field in Par 4 scoring (1-over). Prieto Romano recorded consecutive rounds of 77 and 75 to sit in a tie for 22nd with a total of 152 strokes. Danenhauer (156) contributed to the team score in the first round with a 75, while Schulz (158) registered a 77 in the second round. They sit in a tie for 35th and 40th, respectively.
Montana State's Sofia Rodriguez Todd, Hailey Oster, Lilly Navarre and Hannah Rosanova all are participating as individuals in the tournament.
Rodriguez Todd fired rounds of 77 and 75 and is tied for 22nd overall with a 152. She's tied for seventh among all players in par 5 scoring at 1-under. Rodriguez Todd and Elliott each carded six birdies on Monday.
Oster had several career highlights in her opening day appearance at Old Works. The Bobcat sophomore sunk a hole-in-one on the par 3, 17th hole from 140 yards during her career-low second round. That feat helped her card a 1-under-par 71 after shooting an 82 to open the day. She's tied for 26th overall at 153 strokes.
Bobcat senior Lilly Navarre is tied for 41st overall after firing a 159 (77-82). Hannah Rosanova is tied for 58th with a 171 (85-86).
Eastern Washington's Madalyn Ardueser is atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under-par 141. Her teammate and 2018 Battle at Old Works champion, Alexa Clark, is tied with Hooper in second place.
