Cat Tennis Team Opens Fall Season at ITA Bedford Cup

The Montana State women’s tennis team opens its fall season at the Air Force Academy’s ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains tournament, Sept. 12-15 at the Air Force Outdoor Intercollegiate Tennis Courts
The Montana State women's tennis team opens its fall season at the Air Force Academy's ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains tournament, Sept. 12-15 at the Air Force Outdoor Intercollegiate Tennis Courts. Action starts on Thursday at 9 a.m.
Eight teams from the region will compete in the tournament, including MSU, AFA, Colorado State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah and Wyoming.
"We've had ten good days of practice, building culture, expectations and getting to know the games and personalities of our new student-athletes," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "The Bedford Cup is an exciting and finely run event. The ladies all enjoy attending because of the level of competition and the effort put into making the Bedford Cup an experience they won't forget."
The Bobcats will each play two singles matches on Thursday. Every player will see a total of nine matches over the four-day event.
"It is a test of endurance and is a great opportunity to improve and learn," Reeves added.
MSU will be led at the Bedford Cup by sophomore Linnea Fristam. The Cats will also see the debut of newcomers JJ Chen, Daphne Haverkamp, Mirte Van Baelen and Caitlin Ward.
