Bobcat Duo Earns All-Big Sky Conference Women’s Tennis Honors

Montana State junior Laura Mary garnered Second-Team All-Big Sky Conference honors for her efforts in singles action this spring and combined with freshman Linnea Fristam at No. 1 doubles, where the tandem landed honorable mention all-league accolades.
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State junior Laura Mary garnered Second-Team All-Big Sky Conference honors for her efforts in singles action this spring and combined with freshman Linnea Fristam at No. 1 doubles, where the tandem landed honorable mention all-league accolades.
Mary, a native of Eaubonne, France, posted a 9-9 overall mark in singles play, including a 7-7 ledger at the top spot. In Big Sky play, Mary went 6-3 overall at No. 1 singles and was just one of two Big Sky players to go three sets with league MVP Chiara Tomasetti of Northern Arizona.
Tomasetti finished the season 21-1 overall, losing to three-time league MVP Mariana Petrei of Idaho. Tomasetti defeated Mary 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in Bozeman on April 13.
"Laura made tremendous strides towards the end of the season," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "She demonstrated the level at which she can play. I'm excited to see what she can do next year."
Mary combined with Fristam in doubles play and the duo posted a 7-5 overall mark and a 4-2 Big Sky slate. Fristam is a product of Farum, Denmark.
"I am proud of Laura and Linnea for their efforts and determination to lead our team in the right direction," Reeves commented. "We matched them up mid-way through the year and they did a great job becoming a doubles team to contend with. They worked very hard at getting to know how to work together and they made dramatic improvements."
Mary was a second-team all-conference selection in 2018, as well.
