Montana State even league record with one weekend remaining
Montana State won consecutive singles matches at the third, fourth and fifth ladder spots to snag a 4-3 Big Sky men's tennis match at Eastern Washington on Saturday.
Trailing 2-1, the Bobcats got wins from Joaquin Espinoza at No. 3 singles, Christian Camgaard Qvist at No. 4, and Creel Smith at No. 5 to snare the victory. "Those guys did a great job competing," said MSU coach Jared Burnham. "Joaquin competes so hard, and I'm glad for Christian and Creel for getting wins. They've both been playing well."
Burnham said the key to the match came at its beginning, when MSU swept all three doubles matches to get that point. "I liked the way we competed in doubles," Burnham said. "Getting off to a good start is always important."
The Cats raised their record to 5-10 overall, 4-4 in league play. MSU hosts Southern Utah on Friday and Montana on Saturday to close the regular season.
