MSU sports new doubles lineups in fall finale
BOZEMAN, Montana – With a full squad and a reshuffled doubles lineup, the Montana State men's tennis squad closes its season this weekend at the Gonzaga Invitational in Spokane, Washington.
Bobcat interim coach Trey Morris is pleased with his squad's improvement throughout the fall, and said he hopes to see more in Spokane. "I've seen a lot of growth," he said of his team's work in the two weeks since its previous competition. "We're preparing for the spring season, and that's what this weekend is all about. A lot of the teams we'll see at Gonzaga are on our schedule this spring, and we want to set a tone and expectation that we're going to compete well and have a lot of success."
The Bobcats face regional rivals Gonzaga, Idaho, Montana, Northern Colorado, Portland and Seattle on the Gonzaga campus this weekend. Morris said that the team's doubles lineup has received a makeover this fall, and he's anxious to see it in action this weekend. "We worked hard on doubles the last couple of weeks," he said. "I'm excited to see us in action and to get a look at the new lineups."
Morris said adopting a mindset of consistent competitiveness is his top priority in the time leading to the spring season. "We want to be consistent," he said. "We want to compete for every point in every match. If that happens, that will be a success."
