Bobcats Fall to CU in Season-Opener

The two teams traded wins in doubles play as MSU’s No. 2 tandem of Annie Walker and Linnea Fristam posted the Bobcats’ lone win of the match with a 6-4 decision over Sara Nayar and Ky Ecton.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Montana State women's tennis team opened its 2019 schedule dropping a 7-0 decision to Colorado on Friday morning at the Air Force Academy.
The two teams traded wins in doubles play as MSU's No. 2 tandem of Annie Walker and Linnea Fristam posted the Bobcats' lone win of the match with a 6-4 decision over Sara Nayar and Ky Ecton. The Buffaloes won at Nos. 1 and 3 to capture the first point of the match.
CU then swept all six singles matches, but it wasn't easy as the Bobcats forced three sets at the top spots. Laura Mary, playing at the top of the ladder for Montana State, split the first two sets 6-4 against Colorado's Annabelle Andrinopoulos. Andrinopoulos won the third set tie-breaker 7-5.
Sophomore Annie Walker also went the distance at No. 2 singles before falling to Megan Forster 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
"We are starting with tough non-conference matches right out of the gate," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "We are coming back with primarily the same team and one more year of growth and development. The addition on freshman, Linnea Fristam, will significantly strengthen our lineup at the top."
Montana State will play Air Force on Saturday at 5 p.m.
