Storm Paces Decathlon Field Through First Day of Big Sky Championships

Mason Storm is atop the individual standings in the decathlon field for Montana State at the Big Sky Championships on Tuesday
MOSCOW, Idaho – Montana State senior Mason Storm sits atop the individual standings in the decathlon following the opening day of the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Tuesday, May 8, at the Dan O'Brien Track and Field Complex.
Storm jumped out to the lead from the start by taking first in the 100-meter dash (10.90), long jump (22-07.25) and shot put (42-08.25). The Great Falls native also finished in a tie for fourth among the decathletes in the high jump (6-02.75) and third overall in the 400 (49.65). He currently is atop the leaderboard with 3,884 points, 162 points ahead of current runner-up Donte Robinson of Portland State.
Sophomore Caleb Neth is in the hunt for a podium appearance as he sits in seventh place with 3,466 points half way through the decathlon. Neth finished fourth in the long jump and fifth in both the 100 and 400. Neth also achieved a lifetime-best in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.
MSU is represented in the women's heptathlon by Jazmin Wilberg. The freshman had her best finish in the shot put in which she took eighth with a mark of 31-10.25 (9.71m). Wilberg completed a personal-best time of 15.55 seconds in the 100 hurdles for a 10th-place finish. She currently sits in 14th overall with 2,461 points.
The Bobcats' multi-event athletes return to action in Moscow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. MDT. Fans can watch the multi-events on WatchBigSky.com or the Pluto TV app, while live results are provided on FinishedResults.com or on the Finished Results app.
