Bobcats Drop Road Match to Southern Utah on Sunday

MSU finishes strong, but a slow start doomed the Cats
Southern Utah opened singles play with three straight wins to clinch victory in a Big Sky Conference men's tennis dual against Montana State in Cedar City, Utah, on Sunday.
After claiming the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3, the Thunderbirds won the match with straight set wins at No. 4 (SUU's Guy Feigin topped Adrian Torrico 6-3, 6-0), No. 5 (Pablo Guerra beat MSU's Joaquin Espinoza 6-3, 6-2), and No. 6 (Mateus Ceolin of MSU fell to Jose Ortega 6-2, 7-5). With the nothing left to be decided in the team competition, players at Montana State's top ladder spots created individual excitement.
After Alexander Flink fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 1 singles, Rok Sitar (7-6, 6-4 at No. 2) and Kasper Parlklo (5-7, 6-4, 10-5 at No. 3) earned wins for the Bobcats. MSU's top singles team of Flink and Sitar was tied 5-5 when the contest was stopped because SUU had clinched the point.
Montana State closes the regular season with a flurry of five matches in 11 days beginning Wednesday. The Cats host Idaho at 10:30 am on April 11, Portland State at 11 am on April 13, and Northern Colorado at 2 pm on April 15. The team then closes the regular season at Montana on April 20 and against Eastern Washington at home on April 21. MSU is now 4-10 overall, 3-3 in league play.
